Reading is good for you!Posted: November 20, 2011
I’m slowly making my way through Code Complete, since it’s such a classic. Good stuff – it clarifies a lot of good practices that I kind of knew, but didn’t know well. Trying to become a better developer is somewhat difficult because it seems to be best to balance a variety of ways to learn – from writing big projects (like my game), solving small problems (such as Project Euler), studying other people’s code (in my case, mesa and bravo), and reading books where experienced people have documented their insights. Each item should be done several times over too!
But that is the joy of getting better at something.
