New year, new life?

Netbook arrived, I installed Marverick Meerkat on it. Works like a charm. Windows 7 works great too, it’ll be useful for watching Netflix.

Classes being in a couple of weeks. Apparently everything requires Java, so I have 3 weeks to learn Java before classes begin. I’ve used it a little bit before, but I’m going to have to buckle down and learn it properly. I’m pretty excited about my courses – User Interfaces, Computer Architecture, and Analysis of Algorithms. I’m severely lacking in basic theory, so I’m expecting these to be really beneficial to my growth as a programmer. Maybe I’ll be inspired to start another nice pet project afterwards?

The game I’m working on is pretty educational too, but again, I don’t really want to divulge too much about it. What I can say is that I’m learning a lot about software design especially relating to games. As a more complex project than Wizard City, I’m really getting to know the importance of modularizing the program. Also allows me to learn and use the nuances of Python to a fuller extent. Fun stuff.
